Two arrested in Bricktown shooting; Police release surveillance footage
OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok (KFOR) — Two people are now arrested in connection to the August 18 shooting in Bricktown. A few weeks ago, News 4 told you police were looking for two people who drove away from the scene.
Monday, Oklahoma City Police released new video from surveillance cameras that captured part of the shooting.
In the video, you can see people scatter through the streets just before 2am.
Police said an officer fired his own gun and hit the suspect as he ran away.
At the time, officers followed someone else with a gun.
"The officers discharged their firearms towards the suspect. They missed him but the suspect continued to run dropping the gun eventually and then ran a few more blocks," said Capt. Littlejohn.
Police said that man was arrested, but they later learned he wasn't the shooter.
The investigation turned up two new suspects.
Cedric Caldwell and his girlfriend, Markacia Morgan.
Court documents explain the couple parked in Bricktown around 11:45pm.
About two hours later, they were spotted on video, when a man appears to punch Caldwell.
That's when Caldwell allegedly fired his gun hitting the other man, along with with two innocent women.
Security footage shows Caldwell running away with a gun in his right hand.
"During the foot chase, he got into a silver sedan that was driven by a black female. That sedan fled the scene," said MSgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
Police said Caldwell and Morgan drove to the hospital minutes later and claimed Caldwell was a gunshot victim.
Court papers explain once police got video, they found Caldwell to be the shooter and said he and Morgan were wearing the same clothes from the shooting at the hospital.
Caldwell is facing assault with a deadly weapon charge. Morgan is facing accessory to assault with a deadly weapon.
All the shooting victims are expected to be okay.
