The new era of Swedish football

Sweden’s new era under manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has got off to the perfect start, with the Scandinavian nation registering comfortable wins over both Azerbaijan and Estonia in the international break.

Kulusevski, who wore the captain’s armband in both matches, was one of the best players on the park across the two games and posted some impressive numbers in the win at Stockholm on Sunday.

The Tottenham man started as the number ten behind two strikers, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres as the home side set up in a 3-5-2 formation.

The stats don’t lie about Kulusevski

According to WhoScored, Kulsuevski had a pass accuracy of 85.5 per cent, made five key passes and had six shots, two of which were on target.

The 24-year-old was handed a rating of 8.34 for his display, which was the second highest following Gyokeres, who scored a brace in that game.

Lucas Bergvall came off the bench in the 84th minute, with the Tottenham youngster winning his third cap for his country.

Spurs Web Opinion

There now seems to be a consensus emerging that Kulusevski is at his devastating best when he plays through the middle rather than out wide.

However, unfortunately for the Swede, I do not see him getting too many opportunities to play as a number ten at Spurs this season unless Maddison suffers an injury.
