Motorist shot, killed in Chatham

A motorist was shot and killed Monday afternoon in Chatham on the South Side.

Devon Beal, 30, was driving in the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue when a gunman got out of a car and fired shots at him about 4:30 p.m., Chicago police said.

Beal suffered multiple gunshot wounds and crashed his vehicle, police said.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

No arrests were made.
