I DIYed my own wedding centerpieces with almost exclusively Dollar Tree buys – I spent $102 total on 9 displays
A BRIDE’S DIY cost-saving centerpieces became the center of attention — and for good reason.
Rather than splurging on decor, all she needed was a trip to Dollar Tree.
Redditor Angelikittyx shared how she was able to create her own luxe centerpieces for less.
“Everything but the lights came from the Dollar Tree!” she said.
“I made nine in total — ended up being about $10 per piece,” she added.
Costing $102 altogether, her items included one bolt of tulle and glass cups.
She also stocked up on “a bunch of fake flowers [and] greenery” that translated to four or five pieces in total.
While her lights were not from a dollar store, she still saved.
That’s because she had found a 12-pack of purple fairy lights from Amazon for $12, which meant they were also $1 apiece.
She went through the steps she took to ensure her wedding had as much of the “wow” factor as possible without the hefty price.
“I used a hot glue gun to glue the battery pack to the glass and then wrapped the tulle around the base to hide it,” she said.
“I secured the fabric with the glue gun too.”
She also described how the fabric can be lifted out of the way when the time comes to replace the battery.
“I stuffed the cups with the lights and then filled them with a bunch of fake flowers!” she said.
The DIYer shared snaps of her centerpieces overflowing with white and purple flowers and lit up in a purple haze.
If you want to try giving your own decorations a glow-up, Amazon’s 12-pack of fairy lights sells for $11.99.
Others were certainly impressed with her crafty abilities.
“Boom — nailed it! Congrats!” said a Redditor.
“Very pretty,” another commented.
“Wow! Great job!” a user chimed in.
“They’re absolutely beautiful!” another gave the centerpiece their accolades.
“Very cool! Reminds me of the planet Felucia in Star Wars,” another remarked.
