In a post, she explained that she was intrigued by spearmint tea after others raved about its benefits on the skin.

“Like you, I, too, have read the stories on here about spearmint/peppermint tea cleaning skin!” she said.

“I mistakenly did my own somewhat long-term research.”

She explained that after cutting back on alcohol, her just “okay” skin improved.

“I dealt with pretty painful hormonal acne. My acne stopped around this time; I chalked it up to cutting alcohol,” she said.

To her surprise, the real reason for her improved skin may rest in the leaves.

“However, my ‘present to me’ was a nice kettle, and I was drinking herbal tea (usually mint) a few times a day,” she said.

After skipping her daily tea routine for a few months, she noticed that her acne returned.

“Over the past two months, my schedule has been really off, and with the summer heat, I was skipping the tea, and acne came back so hard,” she said.

“These past three weeks, I have been making a better effort to get my tea in (trying for at least three times per week, every day would be ideal).

“Anyways, acne has gone waaaaay down. I just went through my period a week ago, and I didn’t have any breakouts.”

She added that transitioning to tea has been a pleasant treat at night.

“Tea is the common go-to for new ‘alcohol-free’ people as our night treat. I’ve grown to really enjoy it. I usually have a small cup every night,” she said.

The Redditor, impressed by the remedy, couldn’t thank it enough.

“Here’s to the tea,” she said.

According to Healthline, spearmint has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, as well as a slew of antioxidants.

Limited research supports the Redditor’s claims that drinking spearmint tea is helpful for acne.

Skincare enthusiasts who’ve tried spearmint tea for themselves seconded the recommendation.

“[I] started drinking it at least five times a week a few months ago and it saaaaaved me,” said one commenter.

“Absolute turnaround in my skin.”

“It’s the BEST!” agreed another.

“After struggling for a year and a half with hormonal acne, once I started spearmint tea five months ago, it never came back.”
