'God bless you': Marjorie Taylor Greene praises Jan. 6 rioter for 'assaulting' Democracy

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) thanked a Jan. 6 rioter who was found guilty after he was accused of entering the U.S. Capitol through a broken window and drinking whiskey shots in Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) office.

At a so-called hearing on the "unusually cruel" treatment of Jan. 6 "political prisoners" on Monday, Greene asked Treniss Evans about his crimes.

"The government was kind enough to provide me a federal prison stay for demonstrations," Evans explained.

"Did you, just to be clear, did you burn down the Capitol on January 6th?" Greene asked.

Evans said he would have been "better off" if he had been "an Antifa protester that would have burned $34,000 worth of federal property that was sentenced on the same day."

"Did you assault anyone on January 6th?" Greene wondered.

"Only the fabric of democracy, I hear," Evans replied.

"Thank you," Greene said. "God bless you for your humor."

According to the Department of Justice, Evans was sentenced to "36 months of probation, including 20 days of intermittent incarceration."
