Kate Middleton announced that she has finished her chemotherapy treatment. Earlier this year, the Princess of Wales revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer after much speculation about her absence from public life. In a new video, Middleton shared a positive update about her health.

“As the summer comes to an end, I can’t tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she said in a voice-over. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” Middleton declared, “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

In the video, Middleton also announced that she’s looking forward to returning to work. She’s made a few appearances over the summer — notably at Wimbledon and the Trooping of the Colour — and said that she’s “looking forward” to more in the coming months. According to The Times, she will “potentially” be joining King Charles and the royal family at the Cenotaph for the National Service of Remembrance in November. The outlet also reported that plans have begun for her annual televised “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey.

Middleton capped off her statement with a message to those also battling cancer. “I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand,” she said, “Out of darkness can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
