Will Perdue won't be on Chicago Sports Network's Bulls studio shows

Will Perdue will not return to Bulls studio shows when the team moves its broadcasts to the Chicago Sports Network, which is set to launch Oct. 1.

“The Bulls called on Friday and said we’ve made a decision that we’re gonna go with a two-person crew,” Perdue told the Sun-Times on Monday. “They’re going with a host and an analyst.

“They said it allows them some flexibility to have guest appearances periodically. If it works, they’d like me to come on as a guest once in a while. But only having one analyst is the way they’re gonna go.”

That analyst is expected to be Kendall Gill, but the host remains in question. Jason Goff, who has filled that role since 2019, is the leading candidate to replace Danny Parkins on The Score’s afternoon show, and the times of the jobs conflict. Parkins left the station last month to join a new morning show on FS1.

NBC Sports Chicago, which will shut down Sept. 30, hired Goff to join Gill and Perdue, and they meshed quickly to create entertaining and informative shows. They didn’t hold back with their opinions, and viewers enjoyed their genuine banter.

“I thoroughly enjoyed all those years,” said Perdue, who won three NBA titles with the Bulls (1991-93) and makes appearances for them as an ambassador. “Bulls fans tell me, you provide entertainment with your commentary. I’ve always felt like I’ve had a positive impact on what I’ve tried to provide from an analyst’s standpoint. I’m gonna miss doing that.

“I used to enjoy coming home, asking my wife what she thought about the show, she would critique me. I’d go back and watch them, and she would point stuff out and we would work on stuff and I would take notes. We’ll see where I land.”

CHSN has been slow with its rollout of distribution information, programming and talent, considering it launches in three weeks. Its only announcement has been a June 3 news release that said the network will launch “across multiple platforms with plans to deliver the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox games to the widest audience possible.”

Bulls play-by-play voice Adam Amin, analyst Stacey King and producer Marc Brady will make the move from NBCSCH to CHSN. Bulls insider K.C. Johnson’s role is being determined. The team’s first preseason game is Oct. 8.
