WHILE teacher’s may enjoy paid summer breaks, there’s no denying the rest of their year isn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Some school workers shared their biggest pet peeves when it comes to parents.

In a Reddit post on a page dedicated to educators, one user prompted other teachers to share “thing that annoy” them.

The original poster revealed that her biggest annoyance is “parents who bring their obviously sick kid in.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I get you’ve got bills to pay,” the Redditor wrote.

“We’ll either tell you [that] you can’t bring them in or be calling you in a few hours.”

Other educators flocked to the comments section to have their say in the worst parental habits.

“Parents who dress their children in cute clothes that the child cannot do on their own,” commented one teacher.

“Like tie shoes, rompers, tight pants with buttons and belts, a child needs to practice their independence and going potty is not the time.”

Another commenter revealed the common mistake parents make when dropping their children off that does more harm than good.

“When parents hang around for longer than necessary because their child is throwing a fit at drop off every single time,” the teacher wrote.

“Like dude, they’re putting on a show for you, they’re always fine immediately after you leave, I promise, you’re just making it worse.”

“Parents letting their kids bring stuffies from home,” suggested a third Reddit user.

“I already know there will be fighting, and a parent upset that it was ‘magically’ lost.”

Another educator shared the issue she has with the gentle parenting style.

“Parents who won’t discipline their kids at all,” the commenter explained.

“The type who take ‘gentle parenting2 to such an extreme that they have no consequences.”

Teacher's biggest parent pet peeves

Educators on Reddit shared some of the most annoying habits parents are often guilty of. These include:

  • Dressing children in clothes they can’t manage themselves, including tie shoes and rompers.
  • Hanging around for too long after drop-off, encouraging pro-longed tantrums.
  • Allowing kids to bring toys to school.
  • Overdoing it with “gentle parenting” and failing to discipline bad behaviour.
  • Arriving late to drop-off and pick-up.

She gave the example of a mum “reprimanding” her son for pushing down another child in the playground.

“Mum pulls him over and says: ‘Please don’t do that again, we use loving hands’ and then that was it,” she recalled.

“Truthfully, sometimes there’s a REASON why your kid is a terror.”

“Lateness, if we start school at 9:00 am and you bring your kid at 9:20 am, your child has missed out on learning and it’s disruptive to the rest of the class,” pointed out another teacher.

“Similarly, don’t be late for pick up line either.”
