Metro couple says their dog was mauled, killed by pit bull
EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — Bob and Linda Sheehan are mourning the loss of their Yorkie, Bailey.
Bob Sheehan says Wednesday was a normal day. They're regulars at Frenzy Brewing Company located in Edmond.
"We consider it a community center, they have live music," says Sheehan.
The couple says they were enjoying the atmosphere and outdoor music, when Bailey was mauled by what they say was a Pit Bull.
Sheehan says, "She was just sitting down between my legs under the bench and we watched the man walk his dog and the dog never even looked at us. Never made any indication."
"He got about five feet past us. And he flipped around so fast and he grabbed Bailey out of between my legs and pulled her off so fast that I didn't even see it until she was in his mouth," says Sheehan.
Sherry Spencer is a friend of the Sheehan's who also witnessed the attack.
"It just kept walking forward and then just leaped over its shoulder and pounced."
The Sheehan's say the owner of the Pit Bull left after the attack.
Linda says, "She just didn't deserve it. And the fact that he ran away, that made it worse."
Matt Conner is the Co-owner of Frenzy Brewing Company.
Conner says, "I'm just concerned that this dog might hurt someone or someone else's animal."
The Sheehan's and Conner say they're working with Edmond Police to try and identify the dog and it's owner to ensure safety in the community and to prevent another tragic incident like this from happening.
