Hollywood Bowl cancels Sunday night concert due to power outage
The Hollywood Bowl canceled a concert Sunday because of a power outage. The venue’s website said it was to host Vance Joy, Grouplove and Tiny Habits, as part of a KCRW Festival event.
The venue is off the 101 Freeway and Highland Avenue.
“If a new date for this performance can be confirmed, details will follow and tickets for the original date will be valid for the new performance date,” the Hollywood Bowl said on social media.
Ticket holders with questions, refund requests or exchanges were advised to contact Audience Services at information@laphil.org
The outage at the Hollywood Bowl was due to electrical equipment that overheated, said Terinn Holman, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. With extreme heat affecting the metropolitan area, equipment hasn’t had time to cool down, causing it to overheat and lead to outages, Holman said.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the utility said in a news release that more than 15,000 customers across its coverage area were without power amid a heat wave impacting the area, with residents most impacted in Harvard Park, Hollywood and Northridge.
Because of a large number of small outages, the department said customers should expect extended wait times beyond 24 hours for repairs.
Crews are working around the clock and prioritizing customers dealing with longer outages, LADWP said. The department is contacting anyone who has been without power for more than 30 hours and working to deliver ice to them.
