‘I’m converted!’ mum shows off cheap TikTok shop airer she can get two whole loads of washing on & clothes dry overnight
THERE’S nothing worse than trying to get clothes dry when it’s raining outside.
And with energy prices showing no sign of dropping anytime soon, we’re all looking for ways to avoid using the tumble dryer.
Mum Jordan has been “converted” by this huge airer, which she can get two loads of washing on[/caption]So one mum is hoping to help others after finding a massive airer on TikTok shop that’s a game changer for her laundry process.
Showing off the £22.99 airer in a video on her TikTok page, Jordan explained: “That is me converted. These are so much more spacious.
“You can get a full two loads of washing on here, whereas on the kind of standard ones, I really struggle to get one load of washing on.”
The airers are also collapsible, with additions that pop out on the side on which to hang other bits.
And the size difference is so immense that Jordan can even get two pairs of trousers on one section – where she could only get one before.
“If that isn’t enough, it’s on wheels as well,” she continued.
“So it’s super, super easy to move around.”
She even moves it outside when the weather is better outside.
“We all need a good airer. Definitely converted!” Jordan captioned the video.
But responses to the airer in the comments section were mixed, with one writing: “It’s not heated and nothing is spaced out, it’s never going to dry.”
However, Jordan said that she uses a dehumidifier with hers – as she would with any airer being used inside.
“Should never dry clothes indoors!” another added.
“All the moisture goes into the walls and creates damp and mould.”
“I have a dehumidifier? What else are you going to do in the winter?” Jordan questioned.
“I’ve had one two years,” a third said.
“Also use with a dehumidifier – 9am the clothes go on 6pm they come off perfectly dry!”
Five top winter laundry tips
WE all love using washing lines when the sun's out.
But getting clothes dry when it’s raining can be a nightmare – especially if you don’t have a tumble dryer or don’t want to use it.
So here are five top tips to help you get your laundry dry in the winter.
- Use a dehumidifier – Using one of the machines when you dry your laundry is arguably vital. It helps draw out moisture from the clothes, and makes your home healthier by preventing mould and mildew.
- Pop in an extra spin – It’s a button a lot of us tend to ignore on their washing machines. But adding an extra spin at the end of your laundry cycle can make a massive difference to how quickly your clothes dry.
- Don’t hang clothes on the radiator – While lots of people stick clothes on their rads to dry, it can be problematic for several reasons. Not only does it create a potential fire hazard, it can encourage the build up of mould behind the radiator too.
- Think twice – It’s also worth considering whether your clothing actually needs to be washed. While dirty clothes obviously need a wash, others might be ok with a quick airing instead.
- Wrap it up – When your washing comes out of the washing machine, it’s a good idea to pop each garment inside a dry towel and roll it up. This helps extract some of the moisture and can even reduce wrinkles too.
“Great for damp and mould creation,” someone else argued.
With Jordan hitting back: “Not if you run a dehumidifier.
“Most people use airers to dry their clothes in the UK.
“Tumble dryers are terrible for your clothes and electricity bill!
“I rarely use mine.
“I think if you look at the comments and do a simple Google search you’ll find most people are using airers.”
