Sundell talks year four with K-State women's hoops, high expectations on K-Nation

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - K-State women's basketball is coming off of one of its most memorable seasons in recent memory.

The Wildcats rose as high as No. 2 in the country in 2023-24, and hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. Rising senior guard Serena Sundell was a driving force behind that success.

In a one-on-one interview with K-Nation's Caroline Soro, she said the bar for the program was set high last season. K-State returns Ayoka Lee, Zyanna Walker, Jaelyn and Brylee Glenn and others in addition to Sundell.

"We are going to set our expectations very high and set our goals high and if we fall short, hopefully it will be a successful year," Sundell said. "We've got lot of girls coming back, we've got a lot of experience on this year's team. So really, there's no excuses this year."

Sundell is heading into her fourth season with K-State, and has spent her entire career with the Wildcats.

"It is rare to be somewhere for a true four years, and I'm the first class without a COVID year so I really only get four," Sundell said. "I'm so glad that I chose K-State. If I could do it again, I would come right back here.

The Marysville, MO native also discussed what she's been up to over the offseason, and what she enjoys doing away from basketball in her free time. The full interview with Sundell aired in Sunday's episode of K-Nation and can be watched above.
