The chess.com Speed Chess Final took place in Paris Fri 6th Sep to Sun 8th Sep 2024. Magnus Carlsen faced Hans Moke Niemann for the first time since he lost to him in the Sinquefield Cup in 2022. Although these games were still played over the internet on chess.com they were at least in the same room. Carlsen won handily. Alireza Firouzja beat Hikarua Nakamura to reach the final. Nakamura beat Niemann to finish third and then Carlsen trounced Firouzja 23.5-7.5 in the final.
