Israeli strikes in Syria kill at least four civilians, reports Syrian state media

0

On Sunday night, Israeli strikes on Syria’s Hama countryside resulted in the deaths of at least four civilians, according to Syrian state media. Reports indicate that these attacks targeted a significant military research center.

Following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israeli civilians and soldiers, Israel has intensified its military actions. The recent strikes in Syria have focused on Iranian-backed militias, as well as Syrian army air defenses and some Syrian forces, as reported by Reuters.

A local health official reported that, in addition to the fatalities, 13 people were injured in the strikes near Misyaf, with several in critical condition. Emergency services are still transporting the wounded.

Intelligence sources indicated that the military research center targeted was involved in chemical arms production and housed Iranian military experts. The strikes reportedly hit the facility multiple times.

The attacks also sparked two fires in the area, which firefighters are currently working to control. Israel has not commented on the strikes, adhering to its usual practice of not addressing specific reports on actions in Syria.

In a notable incident earlier, suspected Israeli warplanes bombed Iran’s embassy in April. This attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven military advisers, including three senior commanders, as stated by Iran.

The recent escalation in Israeli strikes against Syria, particularly targeting sites associated with Iranian military operations, highlights the ongoing tensions in the region. These actions come in the wake of increased hostilities and have led to significant civilian and infrastructural damage, further complicating the regional dynamics.
