Police say woman shoots, wounds man trying to break into her South Shore home

A man was hospitalized after a woman shot him as he was trying to break into her South Shore home Saturday night, Chicago police said.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 2300 block of East 69th Street about 10:45 p.m. On arriving they found a man, 36, who had been shot in the leg.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, police said. The woman who shot him is a Concealed Carry License holder. She told police that the man was trying to get into her home through a window.

The incident is under investigation.
