Did Lana Del Rey Just Hard Launch Alligator Guy?
Big weekend for alligator tour guides! On Saturday, Lana Del Rey and rumored boyfriend Jeremy Dufrene were photographed holding hands as they arrived at model Karen Elson’s Greenwich Village wedding, per “Page Six.” This is the first time we’ve seen Dufrene, who was first romantically linked to the singer in August, in formalwear. Elsewhere, we’ve mostly seen the 49-year-old in camo sweatshirts and snapbacks posting selfies in front of his gator friends. Look, I’ll be the first to say it. Did I cringe when I heard the poetess behind “Summertime Sadness” had potentially landed herself a Louisiana swamp daddy? Yes. Did I look at Saturday’s images of Dufrene in a suit and think, ‘I get it’? Unfortunately, also yes.
Going off the photos alone, the suspected pair didn’t seem all that camera shy on their first public outing, smiling and openly holding hands for all the paparazzi to see. Just last week, Lana had commented on an Instagram post, seemingly implying the two were not dating. But Saturday’s appearance now marks the second time we’ve seen the reported odd couple holding hands, after the two were first spotted in the back of an Instagram video during Reading & Leeds Festival in the UK in August. And for what it’s worth, Lana, master of the emotionless pout, looks really happy.
While Del Rey’s romantic history has always been all over the map (cops, musicians, agents, what have you), apparently even her friends were surprised by the sharp left turn into swampland. Per the Daily Mail, an anonymous source said the singer found it “refreshing” that Dufrene had “no idea” who she was when they met on a tour of his in 2019, but her close circle reportedly thought he was “using” her at first. “She wanted to go on a boat tour because it’s a big thing in Louisiana, but she never expected to fall for a gator boat captain,” the source noted. We never expected this either, but wishing them all the best!
