Upasana Yadav’s Historic Ton Secures Inaugural Women’s DPL Title for North Delhi Strikers
The standout performance for North Delhi Strikers came from Upasana Yadav as they defeated South Delhi Superstarz by 10 runs in the final here on Sunday to claim the Women’s Delhi Premier League trophy.
Thus, Upasana became the first-ever centurion in the history of the tournament, leading the side to a decisive total of 179 for three with an undefeated 114 off 67 deliveries.
Tanisha Singh of the Superstarz led the attack in response, scoring 72 off 40, but NDS bowlers held them to 169 for eight.
They started the chase aggressively, but at the end of Powerplay, with 46 runs scored, they had lost their openers, Chhavi Gupta (20 off 20) and Shweta Sehrawat (13 off 11).
Tanisha and Riya Soni combined for 38 runs off of 29 deliveries. In addition to reaching her half-century in 27 balls, Tanisha then steadied the ship with Nidhi Mahto.
Prior to this, Upasana stole the show with a century that set the tone for the innings. She hit several boundaries and reached her half-century in thirty-six deliveries, then took 62 balls to make her century.
