Once-endangered Apache trout species restored: US Interior Secretary

MESA, Arizona: Following more than five decades of recovery efforts, the Apache trout, Arizona's state fish, has been removed from the federal list of endangered and threatened species.

U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland traveled to Arizona for the announcement. It is considered an important conservation success, marking the first sportfish and trout to be removed from the list.
