Man Utd scouts blown away by 20yo Turkish talent, positive report sent to club - report
Manchester United had an impressive summer transfer window with five high-profile signings.
The Red Devils recruited Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte to reinforce the first-team squad this season.
The club are also searching for emerging talents for the future. They recently signed Sekou Kone from Guidars FC and seem to be eyeing more candidates.
According to Turkish outfit Milliyet, the Red Devils had scouts in attendance to watch Trabzonspor centre-back Ali Sahin Yilmaz on international duty this week.
The 20-year-old played 90 minutes of Turkey’s Under-20 clash versus England which ended 1-1.
A positive report was sent back by the scouting team and it remains to be seen whether United will lodge a formal approach for the talented young defender.
United aiming to sign young talents with potential
United have changed their transfer policy since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took control of footballing operations.
The club are now focused on signing emerging talents or players entering the prime of their careers.
Yilmaz falls into the former of those categories. He has yet to make his competitive debut for Trabzonspor, but has been a regular part of the matchday squads this term.
The Turkish ace is a right-footed centre-back with a good aerial presence at 6ft 1in.
Judging by recent friendlies, Yilmaz is also a strong ball-playing defender who can provide accurate long balls. He has been good in contesting duels as well as clearing his lines.
His full potential won’t be known until he makes his first-team debut. United could have a close look at him over the season before considering whether to make a transfer bid.
