The Mariners wrap up their long road trip with one final game in The Lou

Thanks to everyone who came out to yesterday’s softbaLL game and then stuck around to watch the game at Growler Guys. The game, not so great, but the company was outstanding.

Lineups:

If you’re wondering why the Cardinals PFP looks like a melting radioactive symbol, that’s A) because they wear their City Connects on Sundays, apparently; and B) that’s actually a fleur-de-lis. I think New Orleans has already staked a more convincing claim to that particular iconography, but then again, they don’t have a professional baseball team there (RIP Babycakes).

A bit of a bummer here as the Mariners released an updated lineup with Victor Robles scratched. It’s just a significantly more fun lineup when Robles is in it.

Today’s game information:

Game time: 11:15 AM PT

Television: ROOT SPORTS NW with Aaron Goldsmith and Mike Blowers

Radio: Note the change because of the Seahawks game: KTTH (770 AM) with Rick Rizzs and Dave Sims.

Today in Mariners history:

  • 1995: Randy Johnson wins his 14th and the club moves into a tie with Kansas City for the wild card.
  • 1999 - Tom Lampkin walks it off against Toronto with a two-run home run.
  • 2002 - The Mariners score 8 runs in the 11th inning to beat the Royals 16-9 at Kaufmann Stadium. The game featured 27 hits, six home runs and 13 pitchers combining for 12 walks, two hit-batters, four wild pitches and two blown saves.
  • 2011 - Ichiro Suzuki hit his 36th career leadoff home run on the first pitch from Luke Hochevar. The homer broke a tie for 6th place in the all-time record books with Bobby Bonds. The Mariners beat the Royals 4-1.
  • 2021: The Mariners score two runs in the seventh inning on a Jarred Kelenic double to tie the Astros after trailing 2-4, and score four more runs in the ninth against Ryan Pressley—two on a two-run J.P. Crawford home run—to win 8-4.
