Rishabh Pant makes comeback, two young pacers included in India’s squad for 1st Test against Bangladesh
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to make his return to Test cricket in the first Test of the 2-match series against Bangladesh starting September 19. Pant will be playing Test cricket for India after nearly 20 months following the injuries suffered in a car accident. Rohit Sharma will be the captain while both Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah were also included in the squad.
Young pacers Akash Deep and Yash Dayal also received call-ups to the Indian team for the first Test that is set to be played in Chennai.
Having played in the second and final Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur in December, 2022, Pant had met a road accident a few days later. He made his Indian team return in the T20 World Cup which was held in June earlier this year.
Mohammed Shami wasn’t picked for the Test series despite the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar earlier expressing that the pacer was targeting a return in the first Test against Bangladesh.
The second Test of the series will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27.
