NYPD investigates flag damage at Chelsea restaurant

CHELSEA, Manhattan (PIX11) -- Police are searching for a person accused of using an item to damage a flag in front of a restaurant in Chelsea on Tuesday, according to officials.

The suspect allegedly walked up to the flag in front of ZiZi at 182 Eigth Ave. and used a sharp object to cut an Israel, American combination flag and separate it in half around 8 p.m., according to officials.

The suspect left on foot, and no one was injured. Police said the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.
