I nuked my skin & spent $1,000 on fancy products trying to fix my red face – my answer was an $8 drugstore buy all along

A SKINCARE fan has shared the inexpensive drugstore buy that cured her red face.

After trying thousands of dollars worth of products, the $8 buy was all her skin needed.

Redditor AC_Slaughter shared the beauty tip in a post.

“After years and years of trying everything, the answer was at the drugstore for $7 all along,” she said.

“My face has been red for years.”

She explained that she “cringed” thinking about the stuff she’d put on her face over the years in an attempt to cure her redness.

“I’ve spent $1,000 over the past year and a half on fancy serums, lotions, [and] cica products that were supposed to be holy grails for barrier repair,” she said.

“One was a $115 serum I saved up for that, but in the end, it did absolutely nothing for me.”

Despite her best efforts, she realized that she lacked the basic skincare education and had worsened her skin condition.

“I had no idea what a skin barrier was or that I’d nuked mine for YEARS,” she said.

“I just thought I had a red face since I’ve always struggled with acne.”

Though the Redditor doesn’t have rosacea or facial flushing, she explained that she’d committed “literally every skincare crime ever” in an attempt to rid herself of blemishes.

“I’ve been trying for several months to restore it with barrier serums, Cicalfate, calendula ointment, prickly pear seed oil, ceramides,” she said.

“None of it made a big enough difference until I slugged with diaper cream last night and woke up with a peach-colored face again for the first time in over half a decade.”

After watching YouTube videos by dermatologist Dr. Idriss, she made a recovery for the better.

“Two nights ago, I watched a YouTube video, and this dermatologist was talking about how she bastes herself with Triple Paste nappy cream, and it all made sense!” she said.

Though the unconventional diaper rash cream wasn’t meant for the face, she explained that the dermatologist’s explanation made sense.

“The zinc, beeswax, lanolin, cholesterol… Maybe this is it?” she said.

“I put it on for the first time last night and woke up this morning without a red face for the first time in probably six years.

“I did my routine and ended it with the nappy cream, and not only did the redness go away, but a huge zit I had on my temple was a third of the size it was yesterday. IN ONE DAY!”

“So now I feel like a dolt because I spent years and a ton of money at fancy boutiques and whatnot trying to find my holy grail product, and in the end, I walked by it every time I went to the drug store.”

In the daytime, she spritzes on aloe water facial mist and applies moisturizer with castor oil and sunscreen.

Her nighttime routine, she revealed, is a gel cleanser, aloe water, a few drops of pear seed oil, a moisturizer, and slugging with the $8 Triple Paste Diaper Rash cream.

Others agreed that the diaper rash cream — and Dr. Idriss’ advice — worked wonders for them.

“She’s the best. Zinc on my face has single-handedly changed my skincare game forever. I also go through so much glycolic acid all over myself now,” said one commenter.
