Long Island woman accused of crashing stolen car after bank robbery: SCPD

RONKONKOMA, Long Island (PIX11) – A Long Island woman allegedly crashed a stolen car into a police vehicle in Ronkonkoma Saturday evening, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The crash comes just one day after the same woman, identified by police as 41-year-old Nina Cahill, was accused of robbing a Chase Bank on Middle Country Road, police said.

Cahill on Friday allegedly entered the bank with a surgical mask on just before 5 p.m. and passed the teller a note demanding money, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Then on Saturday, the Holtsville woman was trying to get away from cops when she backed into a police vehicle around 7:25 p.m. near Patchogue-Holbrook Road, police said.

She then drove onto and off of the Long Island Expressway multiple times, at times driving the wrong way, before crashing head-on into a highway patrol officer between exits 58 and 59, police said.

Police said Cahill got out of the car and tried to run, but was arrested and charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of stolen property and reckless endangerment.

Cahill is expected back in court on Sunday.
