AS former BBC News presenter Kate Silverton hopes to returns to screens with a new job, she isn’t the only star to swap the studio.

The anchor – who was at the helm of flagship bulletins – left the Beeb three years ago.

In that time Kate has retrained as a child therapist and hopes to be back on television with her counselling skills.

But the journalist isn’t the BBC’s only star to completely overhaul their careers.

Former Beeb correspondent and BBC Breakfast star Ben Geoghegan swapped journalism for a nuclear power company.

According to his professional Linkedin profile, Ben is the director of communications for Sizewell C.

The company is building two power stations in the UK, with its Somerset plant the first power station to be built in a generation.

After a tearful goodbye to viewers last year, Joanna Gosling has become a mediator for a top law firm.

The 53-year-old was one of the presenters to be axed following a merger of both BBC News channels.

Joanna is a senior associate at Irwin Mitchell’s Family Law firm, helping couples through their divorces as a mediator.

The motivation stems from her own separation from Sir Craig Oliver in 2014 after 18 years of marriage.

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin was adored by viewers before she announced her shock departure in 2021.

She’s now turned her attention away from the the autocue, becoming an author.

Earlier this year she released her latest novel called Isolation Island.

In 2019, she published her first non-fiction book – Dare to Tri – about her experiences of training to become a triathlete.

She followed it up last year with another work of non-fiction called Fearless.

Victoria Valentine also said a fond farewell to the Beeb in 2023, presenting her last bulletin in September of that year.

She had previously revealed she was quitting the channel to go back to university.

She explained: “I am taking a little bit of a break from broadcasting and from the BBC in order to explore something new.

The presenter added that she’d be studying psychological sciences and would be looking at how the mind works.

“So I – at the grand old age of 39 – going back to university. I am enrolled in a full time masters course, psychological sciences which I’ve kind of sold to my parents as a bit of neuroscience with some thinking and feeling stuff attached to it.”

During her 15-year career at the BBC Victoria hosted another of TV and radio shows, including the flagship BBC Breakfast.
