The pair traded two breaks each in the first set, before Sabalenka clinched it with her fifth set point.

The two-time Australian Open champion then stormed into a 3-0 lead in the second set, before she lost five games in a row.

But Sabalenka then wrestled back control with four games on the spin to seal the US Open title.

After her victory, she changed into an eye-catching red dress to celebrate her second Grand Slam of the year.

Lifting up the trophy, Sabalenka posed for photos and displayed her tiger tattoo proudly.

The ink represents when she was born, 1998, the year of the tiger according to the Chinese zodiac.

She has previously explained the inspiration behind it, revealing it came to her in a dream.

Speaking to the Tennis Channel, Sabalenka said: “I was born in the year of the tiger and one day I was sleeping and dreaming of a tattoo of a tiger and I just made it one day.

“I would like to have a nice walk with a tiger to have a nice picture with them — to touch them, to feel them.”

World No2 Sabalenka has reached the semi-finals of all but one of the last eight Grand Slams she has competed in – a run that stretches back to the 2022 US Open.

He first Slam title came at the 2023 Australian Open when she beat Elena Rybakina.

She lost last year’s US Open final to Coco Gauff, but bounced back to defend her Australian Open crown against Zheng Qinwen in January.

Her worst Grand Slam performance of the last two years came at the 2024 French Open where she suffered a quarter-final exit at the hands of Mirra Andreeva while being plagued by stomach issues.

She missed Wimbledon due to a shoulder injury, but immediately returned to her best to win the US Open.
