Duleep Trophy 2024: Shreyas Iyer shares his Strong ‘Intent’ even after India D’s Defeat

India’s star batter Shreyas Iyer made a comeback in Duleep Trophy, as he scored a half-century in first round. Even after his impressive innings, India D fell against India C.

The aggressive batting by Iyer against pace bowlers showed his skills and determination. Iyer was in his full form in the second innings of Duleep Trophy match. Even after the difficult conditions and the swing of the ball, Iyer attacked the pace bowlers.

The positive mindset helped him score a half century real quick, that proved to be a significant jump for India D. As he aims for a return in Indian team, Shreyas played a powerful innings of 54 runs off 44 balls against India C.

“It was necessary for me to show intent because their bowlers were bowling great, in the right areas and the ball was seaming as well. I just wanted to take the attack and see if we could get a decent total on board. When the ball got old, it was stopping a bit. I wanted to capitalise on my intent, but ya, I would take that fifty any day,” Iyer said after the match.

The aggressive batting style got widely appreciated by his fans on social media. His powerful shots were a highlight of the match. Even after Iyer’s effort, India D was unable to get the win. Shreyas said that the pitch was challenging, which made it difficult for India D to keep the scores under check.

“The pitch did not offer much, there was no spin for the bowlers. Saransh bowled in great areas. There were few patches on the pitch created by the fast bowlers where the ball spun from outside of the off-stump, other than that it was quite dead. Hopefully, we learn from this and move on,” Iyer concluded his post-match interview.
