"It wasn't easy at first": learning new defensive driving skills in Topeka
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Many teens were out in the Stormont Vail Event Center parking lot advancing their driving skills Saturday, September 7.
B.R.A.K.E.S, the defensive driving program demonstrated five different scenarios including car control and recovery, distractive driving, and panic braking throughout three different courses for teens and parents to learn in case they encounter these situations.
One teen spoke to 27 News on how it felt learning how to properly control and recover the car safely.
"The first few times it definitely wasn't easy, but after like the third or fourth lap it was definitely a lot easier to do," Shelbi Hilton said. "And my driving instructor, he was very good at explaining things."
B.R.A.K.E.S is offering two sessions Sunday, September 8 at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Stormont Vail Event Center.
