Can’t win for losing: Red Sox 7, White Sox 5
Crochet crushed, and the South Siders are back to owning the worst first 143 games in baseball history
At this point, why bother pitching Garrett Crochet? Oh wait, who’s gonna pitch instead, given a 40-man roster filled with untouchables who couldn’t possibly survive a mid-September DFA in order to give, like, Sean Burke or Mason Adams a late taste.
Any, Crochet managed to stretch his 50 pitches across two innings, creating another day of chaos for an already-beleaguered bullpen. The poor start — the White Sox scored two before Boston grabbed their bats, and courtesy of Crochet being zoned in (in all the wrong ways) coughed up that lead and then some, trailing 4-2 after one.
The White Sox are back to being the worst team, at this moment (Game 143), in baseball history. As you’ll see below, the chances of them relinquishing the Crown of Worst are dimmer by the day.
