HELP your kids make the most of blustery weather and head outside to fly a kite.

But producing a homemade one can be an activity in itself for kids — plus they’ll love to see their own creation flying in the wind.

The instructions are easy to follow with pictures and short videos to guide you through the process.
Once made, you can then get kids to decorate and paint it as they like.
FLYING HIGH: Before taking the kite out, check there’s enough of a breeze to get it soaring high and mighty.
But if winds are too strong, it can be hard to keep control.
Find a wide-open space where there is nothing the kite will catch on.
Beaches or parks usually work well but move well away from any trees.
Let your child hold the string and unwind to about four metres before taking the kite away from them and launching it up in to the wind.
Pull the string tighter to make it climb higher, and unwind the string to let it go even higher in the sky.
MEET UP: There are plenty of kite festivals and events that take place across the UK, many of which are free to attend and make a great day out.
For example, the St Anne’s Kite Festival takes place next weekend, September 13-15, in Lancashire and features three days of spectacular creations lighting up the sky.
