UP SHOCKER! Desperate Father Forced To ‘Sell’ Toddler Son To Pay For Wife, Newborn Child’s ‘Release’ From Pvt Hospital

In a heartrending incident, a daily wager was reportedly forced to “sell” his 3-year-old son to secure the “release” of his wife and newborn child from a private hospital in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh after he was unable to pay the hospital’s charges. According to reports, Harish Patel, a daily wager, had admitted his pregnant wife for delivery at the hospital but the authorities at the medical facility did not allow the mother and the newborn to leave the premises until Patel cleared the bill.

Patel, a resident of Barwa Patti, who had just fathered a sixth child, was unable to immediately pay the hospital charges following which the staff prevented his wife and newborn child to leave the facility until the bill was cleared, police said.

With no option in sight, the desperate father was then compelled to agree to the outrageous proposition of selling his toddler son under a fraudulent adoption deed for a few thousand rupees on Friday, they said.

The incident sparked outrage after it came to light and prompted swift action from authorities leading to the arrest of five people on Saturday, including the couple who allegedly “bought” the couple from the beleaguered father.

A senior officer said the police have arrested five people, including the alleged “middleman” and a fake doctor, and launched an investigation into the incident

“Police have launched an investigation and arrested five individuals involved in the crime including the alleged middleman Amresh Yadav, the ‘adoptive parents’ Bhola Yadav and his wife Kalawati, a fake doctor Tara Kushwaha, and a helper at the hospital Suganti,” said Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra.

A police constable, who allegedly failed to take action in the case, has also been taken off active duty and sent to police lines by the SP.

“The child was safely rescued and returned to his parents,” the officer added.
