Man arrested, accused of stabbing person to death in Astoria
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man has been arrested and accused of murder in Astoria, authorities said.
Stephen G. Foxon, 58, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and unlawful use of a weapon, the Astoria Police Department said in a release.
The stabbing was reported in the early morning Saturday at Helping Hands at 286 W. Marine Drive. Police responded after "several residents of Helping Hands awoke to the sounds of a struggle" at 2:15 a.m., the release said.
Witnesses said they saw "Foxon stabbing the victim" then called for assistance and rendered first aid until police and fire arrived, police said.
Foxon, a former Helping Hands resident, was located on the Riverwalk and taken into custody at 2:39 a.m.
The victim, whose name has not been released by police, was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in an ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
