A BEST-selling car brand has announced that it will release a whopping 21 new models in the next six years alone.

The firm has opened the floodgates on research and development in a bid to claim a spot as the world’s leading provider of EVs.

Korean juggernaut Hyundai is already one of the most popular marques in Asia, rivalling giants like Toyota and Honda.

However, the upcoming ban on sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles in the UK and the general tightening of Net Zero rules around the world has pushed bosses to shake up its model range.

The company is hoping to get ahead of the curve towards EV adoption with a flood of new pure-electric motors before the ban comes into force in 2030.

The solution it has come up with is a set of 21 brand new offerings, many of which infuse beloved classic styling with new-age powertrains.

Speaking at this year’s Investor Day, Hyundai CEO Jaehoon Chang said: “Hyundai is planning to begin expanding our EV line-up by 2030 in line with the demand recovery forecasts.

“Specifically, we are planning to launch 21 new models by 2030 to provide consumers with a wide variety of options including a full line-up of EVs from economy to luxury and high-performance, giving them more choice.”

This new lineup is set to include a range of mass market EVs, as well as a new luxury motor from Hyundai’s luxury sub-brand Genesis, and even a long-rumoured sports car that generated a sensational social media buzz in 2022.

The N Vision 74 was hailed for its retro wedge design blended with futuristic-looking carbon fibre bodywork.

As the poster child of Hyudani’s new age, it looks to offer a mesmerising mixture of old and new.

The brand appears to be attempting to address criticism of the fact that there are limited EV options capturing the essence of beloved classic cars.

The N Vision was originally only intended as a concept car, with teaser images released a couple of years ago.

But the overwhelmingly positive fan reaction has seemingly pushed Hyundai to put it into production.

No official information has been released, by reports in the South Korean motoring press suggest it will feature a revolutionary hydrogen fuel powertrain, developing over 760 horsepower.

That was the spec of the concept version which was test driven by a lucky few in 2022.

It has also been reported that only 200 will be built, with prices starting at £284,000.

And it has been suggested that the model could arrive as soon as 2026.
