iPhone 16 price rise predicted over new AI features – but experts say there’s a way to avoid paying more this year

APPLE looks ready to launch as many as four new iPhone models in just days – and experts have revealed their price predictions.

The U.S. Sun has spoken to top industry insiders who think they know how much the iPhone 16 is going to cost you.

On September 9, Apple will host its Glowtime iPhone event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California.

We’re expecting to see an iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

That’s in line with the similar set of four iPhone 15 devices from 2023.

And industry expert Paolo Pescatore told us how we can expect very similar prices this year.

However, he warned that we might see a small price increase on the higher-end devices.

“Everything remaining equal with a similar line-up then we should expect pricing to be consistent as seen in previous years,” said Paolo, tech analyst at PP Foresight, speaking to The U.S. Sun.

“The base model will likely be broadly flat with a slight premium on the higher spec models.

“This helps to make the decision-making process easier for customers by spending a bit more to get premium features.”

So avoiding the higher-spec devices and going with the regular base models is a way to avoid higher prices in 2024.

It’s also likely that you’ll be able to pick up older iPhone models for much cheaper once the new devices land.

For comparison, here’s how much the iPhone 15 models cost:

  • iPhone 15 – $799
  • iPhone 15 Plus – $899
  • iPhone 15 Pro – $999
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max – $1,199

Paolo also added that the roll-out of AI features may affect prices in the United States.

American shoppers are expected to get access to Apple Intelligence features (like creating custom emoji and built-in ChatGPT) with the new iPhone 16 models.

This could mean Americans end up paying slightly more, as their new iPhone models will come with extra Apple Intelligence features.

However, Paolo added a warning for Brits, “All of this is subject to inflation which has been higher in recent years.

“Of course there will be slight differences with UK pricing due to Exchange rates, import taxes, and tariffs. This could mean it comes in slightly higher.”

We also spoke to Dan Ives, Managing Director and Senior Equity Analyst at Wedbush Securities, who predicted that the iPhone 16 Pro would cost $1,000 – just like the iPhone 15 Pro.

And he said we could expect to pay $1,200 for the more “premium” model.

He added that Apple was kicking off a “historical supercycle” powered by artificial intelligence with its iPhone 16 launch.

As well as custom Genmoji and built-in ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence will let you create images from scratch and have more natural conversations with Siri.

Apple unveiled the new AI features at its WWDC event in June and promised to bring them to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max with an iOS 18 update.

But it’s expected that all four iPhone 16 models will get the new upgrade.

It’s also rumored that we’ll see new iPhone color options (including a white iPhone 16 and a “desert titanium” Pro model), as well as a powerful new Apple processor powering the gadgets.

Apple is tipped to be making some photography improvements, as well as the potential addition of a dedicated pressure-sensitive camera button for the iPhone 16 Pro models.

However, we won’t know for sure until Apple chief Tim Cook gets on stage to show off the new phones on September 9.
