Video: Spurs star Yves Bissouma scores long-range goal on international duty
The international break may be frustrating for fans of club football, but the fixtures have given one Spurs star the chance to score a brilliant goal for his country.
Bissouma finds the back of the net again
Over the last month, Yves Bissouma has gone from being suspended by Ange Postecoglou to scoring his first competitive goal for Tottenham.
Now, he’s found the back of the net for Mali in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique with a spectacular long-range effort.
After some fine work on the wing, Bissouma picked the ball up around 25 yards out, took a couple of touches to get the ball out of his feet, and decided to hit one. The ball rifled past the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner as the Mali number 10 wheeled away in celebration.
Sadly, that goal was only enough to pull Mali level, sharing the points in a 1-1 draw with Mozambique. It was the first match of the AFCON qualifier group stage.
Next up for Mali is another qualifier against Estwani, a game that, on paper, Bissouma and his teammates should be winning.
Redemption arc continues for Bissouma
Bissouma caps a really fruitful couple of weeks, with this great goal coming off the back of his incredible goal against Everton in the Premier League.
The midfielder was out in the cold at the start of the season after a post on social media suggested he was using laughing gas, leading to Postecoglou excluding him from the squad for the first game of the season.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am really glad we are seeing Bissouma hitting these long-range efforts, as it’s something he has always been capable of.
Hopefully, he can add a few more goals to his Spurs tally this season. It would really help him become a more important player in our squad if so.
