'The Handmaid's Tale' Kicks Off Filming On 6th & Final Season, Elisabeth Moss to Direct First Episode

The Handmaid’s Tale is back in production!

The Hulu drama series has finally begun filming, the streamer announced on Friday afternoon (September 6), sharing a photo of star Elisabeth Moss on set.

Season five ended in November 2022, and there have been a few setbacks between seasons, including the writer and actor strikes.

“Guess who’s back? Production on the final season has officially started. #TheHandmaidsTale will return Spring 2025,” the official Handmaid’s Tale Instagram account shared.

The photo featured showed Elisabeth holding a slate, with her name listed as the director. She has previously helmed six episodes of the show, across seasons four and five.
