Taqueria moves from Troy to the Empire State Plaza

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Empire State Plaza has a new vendor in the Concourse food court. Taco Libre Express opened on Wednesday, September 4.

Taco Libre first opened in Troy's River Street Market in June 2021. The restaurant told NEWS10 they moved out of the market as "First Columbia decided to go in a different direction with the space." Taco Libre's last day in River Street Market was August 23.

The Taco Libre Express menu features build-your-own burritos, bowls, and salads, tacos, and quesadillas with chorizo, carnitas, beef, chicken, or potato fillings. The restaurant wants to eventually add birria tacos and other protein offerings to the menu. You can view the menu on the Taco Libre website.

The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Taco Libre owners also own Mex Cocina/La Catrina in Troy.

"We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Troy community for all the love and support you've shown us over the years," said the Taco Libre owners. "While we say goodbye to our Troy spot, we can't wait to welcome you to our Albany location, where we'll continue serving up the delicious, authentic Mexican flavors you love."

The Office of General Services (OGS) said Taco Libre Express is on a one-year agreement that could be renewed for another three years after the initial year. OGS is currently in discussions with vendors to take over the former Au Bon Pain and Auntie Anne’s spaces in the Plaza.
