One dead after crash on Route 9 in Dutchess County

WAPPINGER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place in the town of Wappinger on September 2. The crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Route 9 near Alpine Commons.

The preliminary investigation determined that on Monday night, Dante Crespo, 19, of Monroe, was riding a Honda motorcycle northbound on Route 9 when he reportedly ran a red light and collided with a Lexus turning left into the Alpine Commons parking lot. Troopers and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures at the scene before transporting Crespo to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Lexus, a 20-year-old woman, was also taken to Mid-Hudson Regional before being transferred to Westchester Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. The crash investigation remains ongoing.
