“Get married brother…”: Ex-Pakistan star’s cheeky advice for Babar Azam

Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been lately going through a very tough period in his life. His batting performances have been consistently poor for quite some time now and thus, he has been subject to limitless criticism by fans and experts alike. Earlier this week, the Pakistan team suffered a humiliating Test series defeat to Bangladesh at home which saw Babar underperform again.

While many former Pakistan cricketers have criticised Babar over the last few weeks, Basit Ali advised the star batter to get married.

“Babar Azam, talk to your parents and get married. He will be a completely different man after that. I know how a player feels when he is not performing well. I request Babar’s parents to get him to marry. Like an elder brother, I want him to tell him, get married brother, you are now old enough,” Basit said in a video on his YouTube channel.

The Pakistan team’s performances have particularly been poor in Test cricket in the recent times. After the conclusion of the 2023 ODI World Cup, they toured Australia for a 3-match Test series where they endured a whitewash after being outplayed in all departments of the game. Babar was exposed in the series as he was only able to score a total of 126 runs at an average of 21 in the 3 Test matches.

In the recently concluded Bangladesh Test series, Babar again came under scrutiny for only scoring a total of 64 runs in 4 innings.
