Yashasvi Jaiswal Sets Sights on Red-Ball Mastery: Aiming for Consistency Before Bangladesh Clash
As he concentrates on red-ball cricket at the current Duleep Trophy and gets ready for the next two-Test series against Bangladesh, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal has placed a strong emphasis on consistency.
A vital member of India’s red-ball team, the 22-year-old struck 30 runs off 50 balls for India ‘B’ during their Duleep Trophy match against India ‘A’ on Thursday in Bengaluru.
“Anytime we get the chance to compete for the Ranji Trophy or the Duleep Trophy, it’s a fantastic opportunity. That’s something I’m extremely excited about, and I hope my game goes well. I’ll give it my all,” he said to JioCinema.
Having played nine Tests since his debut, Jaiswal expressed excitement for India’s World Test Championship campaign, saying, “Every match is important because of the World Test Championship.” Since every victory matters, you must ensure that you give it your all.
“Any opportunity to play for India is incredible, and representing the country is the biggest motivation that I have.”
“I have put a lot of effort into maintaining my form, and I will keep doing so to make sure I keep it. My performance will increase as I continue to practice and prepare consistently. I just need to prepare well and maintain developing as a player; I don’t overthink things. I’ll grow better the more I do these steps.”
During the 2024–25 home season, India will host Bangladesh, New Zealand, and England. The series against Bangladesh is scheduled to begin on September 19.
“I believe they have been performing nicely. Matching up with them will be entertaining. Still, playing Test matches is great joy. That’s something I’m extremely excited about,” Jaiswal stated.
