Despite it being September, one Marks and Spencer fan took to Facebook to share how they had already snapped up one for their Christmas tree this year.

Taking to the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, they uploaded a photo of the cute hanging decoration, which is in the shape of Colin.

They wrote: “First M&S Christmas bauble and I know it’s early but they will sell out when someone puts it on Tik Tok.”

The bauble will set you back £5 if you wish to add it to your festive decs this year.

The M&S website says: “Let Colin the Caterpillar bring extra fun to your decorations, with this hand-painted blown glass ornament in the shape of a Colin-themed Yule log.

“A hanging loop adds the essential finishing touch.”

The shopper was right to think the ornament would be popular.

The 8cm-long Colin hanging decoration has already sold out online, but may be available in some stores and could be restocked.

You can also add your email address on the M&S website to be notified if it returns.

Shoppers seemed keen to get hold of the themed item for themselves.

One wrote: “we need 1.”

Another added: “Love it deffo getting all the fam one.”

And a third commented: “I will look out for one.”

Meanwhile, one person cheekily tagged Aldi and asked: “Where is cuthberts bauble?”

It’s not the only new non-food item that M&S has released that is themed on Colin.

Dog’s life

In July we shared how pet owners were racing to get their hands on a Colin dog toy that costs just £6.

The adorable toy seems to have gone down well with both pooches and owners, with many taking to social media to share it at home.

The plushy toy measures 28cm in length and is a replica of the beloved M&S character.

The website says: “Treat your pet to hours of play with this plushy toy, made in the shape of our Colin the Caterpillar chocolate cake.

“Two squeakers inside add to the fun.”

Ali’s video has racked up over 13,000 likes, and seems to have been a hit with many dog owners.

One said: “This is great.”

Another added: “Omg too cute.”

Others cheekily said they can’t wait for Aldi to bring out a Cuthbert the Caterpillar replica.

Recently M&S fans were left gutted after the supermarket chain discontinued an iconic treat.

The popular Colin the Caterpillar in a jar has recently disappeared from the shop shelves.

Colin the Caterpillar vs Cuthbert the Caterpillar

MARKS & Spencer has called a truce with Aldi over Colin the Caterpillar cake.

The posh supermarket and discount chain were locked in a legal battle after Aldi started selling a cake called Cuthbert the Caterpillar which looked similar to the M&S creation.

They reached a confidential agreement out of court on November 5, it has now emerged.

The companies have not disclosed the terms of the settlement – but both cakes will still be sold.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Cuthbert is free and looking forward to seeing all his fans again very soon!”

An M&S spokesperson said: “The objective of the claim was to protect the IP in our Colin the Caterpillar cake and we are very pleased with the outcome.”

The high street retailer started selling the famous Colin cake more than 30 years ago and its design has been largely unchanged since 2004.

The only exception is during seasonal events such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter, when M&S launches temporary new designs.

Colin is made of chocolate sponge and buttercream, covered in a chocolate shell, and costs £7.

Aldi launched its copycat Cuthbert cake in 2019 for £4.99.

Most supermarkets now have their own version, including Waitrose’s Cecil, Charlie at the Co-op, and Tesco’s Curly cake.
