Dr. Rajput is a hair transplant surgeon and surgical director at KSL Clinic, which has locations in Kent and Manchester, England.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared several unconventional hair growth tips that people have raved about for generations.

FUNKY FOLLICLES

Dr. Rajput said home remedies can be fun to try as part of a holistic hair care routine despite not being scientifically proven.

One of the most beloved tresses treatments involves using a smelly kitchen ingredient.

“Onion juice is rich in sulfur, which is believed to promote collagen production and encourage hair growth,” he said.

“Blend or grate an onion to extract the juice, apply it directly to the scalp, and leave it on for about 30 minutes before washing it out with a mild shampoo.

“The strong smell can be off-putting, but many people report noticeable results after consistent use.”

MARVELLOUS MANE

Dr. Rajput revealed why many beauty fans swear by using rice water in their haircare routines.

The DIY solution takes less than an hour to make and the food is readily available in many homes.

“Rice water, the starchy water left after soaking or cooking rice, is rich in vitamins and minerals, including amino acids and inositol, which can strengthen hair and encourage growth,” he said.

“Rinse rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes to an hour.

“Strain the water and use it as a final rinse after shampooing and conditioning.

“Leave it in for 10-20 minutes before rinsing out with plain water.”

STRONGER STRANDS

Dr. Rajput shared a quick DIY treatment that helps to prevent hair breakage.

“Fenugreek seeds are rich in protein and nicotinic acid, which are known to strengthen hair and prevent hair loss,” he said.

“Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight, grind them into a paste, and apply it to your scalp and hair.

“Leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour before rinsing with water.”

SCALP STIMULATOR

A daily habit helps to stimulate hair growth without the use of topical ingredients.

“The inversion method involves hanging your head upside down for a few minutes daily to increase blood flow to the scalp, which some believe can stimulate hair growth,” he said.

“Sit on a chair and lower your head between your knees or lie down with your head hanging off the edge of a bed.

“Stay in this position for 4-5 minutes daily.

“Follow up with a scalp massage to enhance circulation further.”

Dr. Matee Rajput previously revealed a “counterintuitive” way to ensure that hair gets healthier and longer.

He said it’s “very beneficial” to trim hair every six to eight weeks as removing split ends helps to prevent breakage.

He added that massaging the scalp daily for at least 10 minutes can improve blood circulation for hair growth.
