Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood shares emotional career update amid show scandal

0

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood has emotionally confessed that his ‘dancing days are over’ after years as a performer.

The beloved BBC judge is preparing to return to the glitzy competition series for its 20th anniversary in just over a weeks’ time.

However, after decades on the stage himself – including wearing heels while in drag – he’s revealed his health means he’s no longer able to dance.

Craig told The Mirror: “[The problem] is from wearing heels all my life. They’re so bad for you, although they look fabulous.

“You can’t keep dancing forever; it’s strenuous.”

“I’ve had my toes done, I’ve had my hips replaced, I’ve had everything done, so my dance days are over,” he added.

Craig’s career has seen him perform in a string of adored shows from Jesus Christ Superstar to playing Miss Hannigan in a touring production of Annie.

While his dancing days are over, he’s vowed not to stop performing, saying he’d be an “idiot” to retire and “wouldn’t know what to do with himself”.

Instead, he’s turned his attention to being a choreographer.

He bleakly added: “I think I’m just going to keep working until I drop dead.”

Craig’s comments come ahead of the return of Strictly Come Dancing, which launches on Saturday, September 14 on BBC One.

The series marked the show’s 20th anniversary, with Craig being on the show since the start.

However, the show has been marred with controversy this year, with two fan favourites – Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima – leaving the show over their reported ‘misconduct’.

Both Giovanni and Graziano have denied any wrongdoing, despite Gio’s 2023 partner Amanda Abbington launching a formal complaint against him to the BBC.

The complaint kickstarted a probe that later unearthed footage of Graziano reportedly ‘kicking and spitting’ at his 2023 partner, Zara McDermott.

The investigation is still ongoing.
