Arkansas man arrested in connection with shots fired on bridge, Morgan City police say
ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- An Arkansas man is accused of shooting a gun from a vehicle while traveling on the U.S. 90 bridge connecting Morgan City and Berwick, according to authorities.
Jordan Alexander Renfroe, 20, of Hot Springs, was arrested around 3 p.m. today and charged with illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, according to the Morgan City Police Department.
Morgan City police said in a news release that they went to Brasher Avenue near Fifth Street at 9:25 a.m. this morning in response to reports of gunshots being fired in the area. Responding officers were unable to locate anything, police said.
According to the news release, reports were made to the Berwick Police Department in which witnesses say they saw an occupant of a grey Honda Accord, that was traveling on U.S. 90, fire several gunshots out of the vehicle window.
Together, Morgan City and Berwick police were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the area of Jones Street in Berwick. Police said they executed a search warrant there and Renfroe was developed as a suspect.
"Reports indicate that evidence was uncovered linking Renfroe as the subject who had fired the weapon out of the vehicle. The firearm in question was also recovered and seized by investigators," Morgan City police said.
