Harris campaign hits back at Trump's accusation of a McDonald's McLie
For the past few weeks, Donald Trump has alleged that Vice President Kamala Harris is lying when she talks about her work for McDonald's as a youngster.
Trump, a long-time consumer of the Golden Arches, wrote on Truth Social, "SHE NEVER WORKED THERE, they think she’s 'nuts.'" He repeated the claim at a Wednesday town hall with Fox News anchor Sean Hannity.
The Daily Beast reported Thursday that Harris attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., and when she returned home in the summer of 1983, she worked at a franchise in Alameda, California. This was between her freshman and sophomore years of school. Harris hasn't previously talked about working there, but when marching on a McDonald's worker's picket line in 2019, she talked about her job for the first time.
"She worked the register and manned the fry and ice cream machines," said a campaign official. Principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks said Harris' middle-class roots working in food service makes her more able to understand Americans than he trust-funded Trump.

"It's a stark contrast to Donald Trump, who wants to explode costs on the middle class while out tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations — and that split screen will be on full display through Nov. 5," he told The Beast.
The report pointed to Harris seemingly understanding "the clientele," while "he knows the food."
Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show, Harris confessed she ordered a quarter-pounder with cheese and fries. Trump's order, the report recalled, was "two Big Macs, two Filet-o-fish" and a chocolate, according to former campaign strategist Corey Lewandowski. Jared Kushner then stepped in and said Trump gets one Big Mac and one Filet-o-fish with fries and a vanilla shake.
