Emergency crews rescue man trapped in deep trench in Los Angeles

Emergency crews rescued a worker who became trapped when a deep trench collapsed Thursday at a construction site at a hillside home in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Fire Department says responders worked for nearly six hours in oppressive heat to free the adult male construction worker trapped in soil up to his waist inside the 8-foot trench in the Loz Feliz neighborhood. Officials say the worker was in serious condition and taken to a regional trauma center. Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion at the scene, and one was later taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
