If you ask the Cut team their thoughts on the beauty brand, Dieux, you will only hear praises. Founded by cosmetic chemist Joyce de Lemos and beauty guru Charlotte Palermino, the brand is also beloved by celebs like Hailey Bieber and makeup artists like Katie Jane Hughes. The brand’s reusable Forever Eye Masks were what catapulted it into fame, but its continued efforts in creating elevated and clinically backed products is what pushes the brand to the forefront of the beauty industry. What’s next? The brand’s first-ever facial cleanser and first-ever fragranced product. (Don’t worry, there is a fragrance-free option. But more on that below.)

What Is It?

It’s a gel cleanser that transforms into a milky foam when you add water. The couple of us who tested it can say that the formula is truly top-tier: It manages to lift excess gunk without messing up your skin barrier. However, according to the brand, there was some controversy around the fragrance (or lack thereof).

“For the first time, the team was split. When we tested [Baptism] with our community a fragranced and a fragrance-free version, the positive feedback was overwhelming. That signals to us there’s a need for two options,” the team shared with us.

A true, por qué no los dos? situation. Don’t fret, though, because its leave-on facial skin care will remain fragrance-free.

Do I Need This?

Yes. The Cut Shop team has been testing both the fragranced and fragrance-free cleanser for two weeks and we can attest it works. Deputy editor Jen Ortiz has combination and very sensitive skin (she bruises like a peach!) and Dieux’s Instant Angel is the only moisturizer allowed in her household. After using the unscented cleanser every other morning and night this is what she had to say about it: “It was silky smooth enough to wash off my makeup entirely without leaving my face feeling tight and stripped. And no irritation,” she says.

Normally, due to my eczema, I am an unscented girlie through and through, but for journalistic reasons, I wanted to test out a scented one. I am happy to report that my dehydrated and sensitive skin was (and still is) happy. I used it at night in my shower and while at first the scent threw me off, after the third use it reminded me of a beauty product my grandma used to use so now I don’t mind it. Next time I will be restocking the unscented version though.

What Are People Saying?

Dieux’s community is ecstatic about the new launch, and people who got their hands on it before the launch are also excited. One shared how their skin “did a 180” in the few days they’ve used it, while another commented, “I am so thankful to have been able to try this last fall/winter and have been waiting for this launch since.”

How Do I Get It?

Head on over to DieuxSkin.com to snag your fragranced or fragrance-free gel cleanser for $34. It’s not available on Sephora (yet) like all of the brand’s other products, but it might be down the line. Fingers crossed!
