SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Saratoga Book Festival revealed the list of writers participating in this year's city-wide literary event. From Oct. 4 to Oct. 7, over 50 authors will be present, with special headliners each day.

Each day there will be different sessions, and a headlining event. Headliners include Liz Moore, Brenda Wineapple, Paul Tremblay and Kelly Link; acclaimed authors Roxana Robinson, Garth Risk Hallberg, Corey Brettschneider, Amitava Kumar; and bestsellers Mai Corland, Daniel Kraus and Karen McManus.

"We try to appeal to many ages and interests," says the festival Founder and Co-Chair Ellen Beal. "At this year’s multi-day event, we’ll present more than 30 sessions, 50 featured authors, and the popular Saturday KidZone and Literary Marketplace that showcases more than 90 local authors and organizations. Our goal is to encourage people of all ages to read more books."

The Saratoga Book Festival brings writers and readers together through conversations, book talks, interviews and even through youth programs. The KidZone will feature more than 30 children's authors with crafts, storytelling and photo opportunities with storybook characters.

New this year are three "Beyond the Book" ticketed events. These events will merge books with other forms of art and entertainment.

The three ticketed events are:

  • Comedy Night with Sally Chaffin Brooks and Beck Krefting, Friday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m., at Putnam Place.
    • Come for a night of stand-up comedy with Sally Chaffin Brooks, author of a hilarious new memoir Going to Maine: All the Ways to Fall on the Appalachian Trail and Beck Krefting, a Skidmore professor, humor expert, and comedian. Books can be purchased at the venue. A book chat and signing follows.
  • Warren Zanes Celebrates Springsteen's Nebraska in Song & Stories, Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Universal Preservation Hall.
    • Universal Preservation Hall partners with the Saratoga Book Festival to present Warren Zanes, one of the founding members of the American 1980s garage-style rock band The Del Fuegos, in a night of music and stories inspired by his latest book, Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.
  • Gossip Girl Brunch, Sunday, Oct. 6 at 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at Universal Preservation Hall.
    • A meet-and-greet in and book chat with Cecily von Ziegesar, creator of the Gossip Girls books that launched two hit TV series with the Palette Community’s CEO Marcella Hammer.

The headlining event with Liz Moore on Sunday afternoon will also be a ticketed event. Besides those that tickets are required; the festival and sessions are free for the public.
