Melissa McCarthy Lands Starring Role in True Crime Series About JonBenet Ramsey

Melissa McCarthy is set to lead the cast in a much talked-about new true crime series about the disappearance and death of JonBenet Ramsey.

The 54-year-old Bridesmaids actress will play JonBenet‘s mother Patsy Ramsey in the show, which will air on Paramount+. She’ll share the screen with Clive Owen, who will play Patsy‘s husband John Bennett.

Some details about the series, which has a working title of JonBenet Ramsey, have been revealed.

According to reporting by Deadline, the show will film in Calgary, Canada and will run for eight episodes. Production is expected to “begin shortly.”

The series will delve into the “unbreakable partnership” of Patsy and John and the 1996 death of JonBenet. The unsolved case became national news and still attracts curiosity to this day.

“Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen are an extraordinary duo to delve into this tragic story that has cast a long, haunting shadow over American culture for nearly three decades,” Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement shared with the outlet.

In addition to her onscreen role. Melissa will also act as an executive producer alongside others, including showrunner Richard LaGravenese.
